The Pulaski County Lady Maroons rallied on Thursday night at Wayne County, coming back from a four-point halftime deficit to topple the homestanding Lady Cardinals by a final tally of 57-53.
Chris Adkins’ club got out to a slow start offensively in this one, only scoring 18 points in the opening half of play, however Wayne County wasn’t able to take full advantage, as the Lady Cards only held a 22-18 lead over Pulaski County at the intermission.
The Lady Maroons reclaimed the lead in the third period, outscoring Wayne County 17-7 in the third frame, taking a 35-29 lead over Wayne County heading into the fourth quarter.
In that final frame, both teams picked things up at the offensive end, but PC would hang on for the four-point win at 57-53.
Heidi Thompson and Maddy Dunn each scored 12 points for the Lady Maroons in the win, while Dawn Wilson chipped in with 10 points.
The Lady Maroons — 17-11 on the year — will close out the regular season tonight on the road at Boyle County.
PC will face the Rockcastle County Lady Rockets on Monday night at 6 p.m. in the first round of the Girl’s 47th District Basketball Tournament at Rockcastle County High School.
