The Southwestern Warriors are in the midst of arguably their toughest stretch of the season on the schedule, and it’s beginning to take a toll on the Warriors.
Southwestern saw its losing streak go to three games on Tuesday night at The Wigwam, with a 20-point loss to visiting Lincoln County.
After losing back to back games to regional contenders Wayne County and West Jessamine over the weekend, Chris Baker’s club needed a statement victory on Tuesday evening on its home court, but it was not to be.
The Patriots came out and took control of the contest early on, on their way to a 63-43 victory over Southwestern.
Lincoln County led this one by double figures — 20-10 at the end of the first period — and held a 31-31 lead at the half.
At the end of the third period, the Pats led the Warriors 48-32 on a night when Southwestern just couldn’t get it going offensively.
Cole Dysinger led the Warriors with 20 points in the loss, while Brayden Sims joined him in double figures with 12 points.
Southwestern — 13-12 on the season — will try to bounce back and end the losing skid on Saturday night, when the Warriors travel to Williamsburg.
