Marred in a four-game losing skid, the Southwestern Warriors were in dire need of a win — regardless of the opponent.
That opponent on Thursday night just happened to be district-rival McCreary Central, and Chris Baker’s club did indeed get that much-needed victory in a very hard-fought battle by a final score of 47-40.
Southwestern led this one 26-22 at the half and stretched that lead out to eight points — 37-29 — by the end of the third quarter.
Cole Dysinger led the Warriors in the win with 12 points, Hunter Coffey added 10 points, and Brayden Sims tallied seven points while pulling down a game-high 15 rebounds.
The Warriors — 12-9 on the season — will return to action tonight on the road at Bell County.
Southwestern will return home to The Wigwam on Friday night, January 31st at home against arch-rival Wayne County at 7:30 p.m.
