Traveling on the road on Friday night to Rockcastle County to face the homestanding Rockets in a 47th District contest, the Pulaski County Maroons made short work of the home team.
Simply, Pulaski County went to Mt. Vernon and busted ‘The Rock’.
This one was never really close, and John Fraley’s club was never really threatened in this one.
Colton Fraley scored a game-high 22 points, while junior guard KJ Combs added 21 points for PC, helping the Maroons roll to an emphatic, 85-56 beatdown victory over Rockcastle County.
Pulaski County seized control in this one from the outset, racing out to a very comfortable 40-22 lead over the Rockets by the intermission.
From there, coach Fraley made sure everyone got in on the act for PC.
Freshman guard Barack Williams came off the Maroons bench to score 15 points in the victory, while Grant Oakes also hit for double figures with 10 points.
In all, eight players put their name in the scoring column for the Maroons, with sophomore Zach Travis barely missing double figures, as he tallied nine points in the victory.
Pulaski County — 12-3 on the season — will return to action on Tuesday night in what might be a preview of a 12th Regional Tournament title game.
Lincoln County — the defending 12th Regional champions — will invade The PC Gym for a big-time, mid-January matchup against the Maroons, with tip off slated for 7:30 p.m.
