The Pulaski County Lady Maroons had won six games in a row coming into Monday’s championship game in the Sunshine Classic at Daytona Beach, Florida.
However on Monday, after playing a ton of games over the past week, along with a long road trip to the Sunshine state — seven games to be exact — PC ran out of gas in the tourney finals.
Taking on DeKalb County out of Tennessee, the Lady Maroons — in a very low-scoring affair — couldn’t get going offensively for much of the afternoon, and as a result, it was Pulaski County falling in the end by a final count of 39-29.
Haylee Ridner led the Lady Maroons in the loss by scoring eight points, on a day when both clubs struggled to find offense.
The Lady Maroons will return home and get a few days of rest before their next game, which comes up this coming weekend.
On Saturday, Chris Adkins’ club — now 10-3 on the season — will travel to Kentucky State University on Saturday, January 4th, to take on Covington Holy Cross at 5 p.m. in the Penn Station Shootout.
