The Southwestern Warriors will head into the new year with a 9-3 record, after splitting their final two games of the Lake Cumberland Holiday Hoops Classic over the weekend.

On Sunday evening at The Wigwam, the Warriors dropped a tough one, falling to Clay County, Tennessee in the tourney finale by a 60-57 margin.

This game was close throughout, but Southwestern couldn’t get over the hump for a ‘W’.

Brayden Sims paced the blue and orange with 16 points in the loss, while Andrew Jones joined him in double figures with 11 points.

On Saturday night, the Warriors cruised to a big-time, blowout victory, topping Phoenix International, Ohio by a final count of 86-28.

Thanks to a 58-point win, the Warriors got contributions from everyone in uniform, paced by Lukas Maybrier with 15 points.

Sims added a dozen points, Luke Jacobs chipped in with 11 points, and Evan Smith added 10 points for the Warriors.

Southwestern will return to action on Friday night, January 3rd, hosting Bryan Station at The Wigwam at 8 p.m.
