One night after surviving Newport High School in overtime, the Pulaski County Maroons returned to the hardwood on Sunday afternoon on the final day of the annual Lake Cumberland Holiday Hoops Classic, and John Fraley’s club made it a perfect three for three at this year’s event.

The Maroons got a 30-point performance from Colton Fraley, while sophomore forward Caleb Sloan poured in 19 points, helping Pulaski County improve to 10-2 on the season with a 74-64 win over the Morristown East Hurricanes.

Morristown East, Tennessee got a game-high 32 points from guard Micah Simpson, but it would not be enough to slow down a Pulaski County team that has now won five games in a row.

The Maroons were impressive over the weekend in the tournament, holding off Sullivan East High School on Friday night 83-70, in a game that saw junior guard KJ Combs pour in 29 points in leading the Maroons to the victory.

In that overtime win over Newport on Saturday night — a 75-67 Pulaski County victory — Combs once again led the way for Fraley’s club with 26 points, while senior point guard Colton Fraley added 11 points, going a perfect, 6-6 from the charity stripe in the extra session.

The Maroons — 10-2 on the season — will return to action on Saturday at South Laurel High School, taking part in the Raymond Reed Classic.

Pulaski County will meet North Laurel at that event, with the game set to get underway on Saturday evening at 6 p.m.
