The Southwestern Lady Warriors ran their winning streak to seven games on Friday night, as Junior Molden’s club came away with another impressive win.
Facing Knox Central in the opening night of the annual Lake Cumberland Holiday Hoops Classic at The Wigwam, Southwestern used a 29-15 second quarter to take charge in this one, leading the Lady Panthers 45-27 at the half on their way to an impressive, 79-55 win.
Thanks to that onslaught in the second frame, the Lady Warriors would never really be threatened again in this affair.
Regi Cundiff led Southwestern with 22 points in the win, while Alexa Smiddy chipped in with 11 points, on a night when the blue and orange connected on 11 three-point baskets from downtown.
Southwestern — with the 12th Region’s best record currently at 9-1 on the season — will return to action today in the tourney from The Wigwam.
The Lady Warriors will get back at it today at 4:15 p.m., hosting John Hardin High School on day two of the three-day event.
