One night after falling to Huntington Prep, the Pulaski County Maroons bounced back with avengeance on Saturday evening in the M & W Classic at The PC Gym.
Hosting the Campbellsville Eagles — coached by former University of Kentucky standout Anthony Epps — John Fraley’s club put the loss 24 hours earlier to Huntington Prep in its rear view mirror with an emphatic statement.
Pulaski County put five players in double figures in this one — led by Caleb Sloan with 18 points — helping the Maroons improve to 6-2 on the season with a very impressive, 89-56 victory over the Eagles.
Campbellsville stayed within striking distance of PC early on, only trailing the Maroons by seven points at 40-33 at halftime.
However, the Maroons used a big-time run coming of the locker room to begin the second half, outscoring the Eagles in the third period 24-11, to take a very comfortable, 64-44 lead into the final stanza.
Freshman guard Barack Williams scored 11 of his 14 points after the intermission, helping the Maroons roll to the blowout win.
Colton Fraley had 15 points for PC, KJ Combs added 12 points, and Zach Travis added 11 points.
The Maroons will close out play in the tourney on Sunday afternoon at The PC Gym at 3:30 p.m., when Pulaski County will meet up against Bullitt Central.
