One night after taking down Shelby County by 13 points in the opening round of the Arby’s Holiday Classic at McCreary Central High School, the Pulaski County Lady Maroons got back into action on Saturday afternoon in the second round of the tourney, and Clinton County proved to be no match for Chris Adkins’ club.
Simply, Adkins and company put this one away early, gaining control of the contest with a 21-6 lead after the first period, on their way to an easy, 65-34 win over the Lady Bulldogs.
Three PC players hit for double figures in the win, led by Maddy Dunn’s 13 points, while Caroline Oakes and Heidi Thompson each added 12 points.
Pulaski County — after leading this one 21-6 at the end of the first period — took a 34-18 lead into the locker room at halftime over the Lady Bulldogs, and then totally blew this one wide open, by outscoring Clinton County 20-5 in the third stanza, taking a 54-23 lead into the fourth period.
With the win, Pulaski County moved to 6-2 on the season and will return to action on Sunday afternoon in the tournament at McCreary Central High School at 12 p.m. taking on Knott County Central.
