Junior Molden and the Southwestern Lady Warriors had been on a tear of late, winning their last three games over Scott County, Graves County, and Wayne County by an average of 23.6 points per game.
On Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the Smokey Mountain Classic in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Molden and the Lady Warriors actually improved upon those gaudy numbers.
Southwestern raced out to a 42-10 lead by halftime, and led by as much as 42 points in the second half, helping Molden and crew come away with a relatively easy, 60-29 win over Saltillo, Mississippi.

“This was a solid team win for us,” stated Molden. “We play a really good North Greene, Tennessee team tomorrow, so we need to keep our focus and keep playing up to our potential.”
Kennedy Harris led Southwestern — now 6-1 on the season — with 17 points, while Regi Cundiff joined her in double figures with 15 points, and McKayla Noritis added 12.
The Lady Warriors play North Greene, Tennessee on Friday as the tourney continues.
