After kicking off the 2019 high school football season with a tough loss to Lexington Catholic, the Pulaski County Maroons have been red-hot.
PC has won three straight road games, with wins over Wayne County, Corbin, and last week over Henry Clay.
This Friday, Pulaski County finally gets to play at the friendly confines of PC Field, when head coach Johnny Hines and the Maroons welcome in another hot team of late in the Madison Southern Eagles.
The Eagles — a long-time rival of Pulaski County — have won two straight games, with wins over Madison Central and Danville, after beginning the season with an 0-2 mark.
So, Friday night is a battle between two hot teams at PC Field in the Maroons home opener for the 2019 season.
Last week at Henry Clay, Pulaski County stayed red-hot, thanks to a stingy defense, and the air attack of sophomore quarterback Drew Polston, and his favorite targets — Jake Sloan and Grant Oaks.
Polston had yet another great performance, connecting on 19-26 through the air for 116 yards and three touchdowns.
The PC quarterback also led the Maroons with 73 yards rushing on 13 attempts.
Grant Oaks caught two TD passes in the win over the Blue Devils, while Sloan led PC with 12 receptions for 72 yards and a TD.
Meanwhile on the defensive side of the football, Hargis — well on his way to becoming Pulaski County’s all-time leading tackler in school history — paced the Maroons with 13 tackles, helping to hold Henry Clay to just one score in the contest.
Kickoff for Friday night’s contest against the Eagles is set for 7:30 p.m. at PC Field.
