Coming off of their thrilling, 64-62 win at Pulaski County last Friday night — thanks to a last second shot from Kade Grundy — the Somerset Briar Jumpers returned to action on Monday night, but it was visiting Knox Central that was making all the shots on this particular night.

The Panthers shot a red-hot, 64.5 percent from the field for the game, hitting on 40-62 field goal attempts, getting 24 assists on those 40 made field goals.

And as a result, it was the visiting Panthers coming away with an impressive, 91-69 victory over Somerset at The Briar Patch.

“It was Knox Central’s night tonight,” stated Somerset head coach Jeron Dunbar after the game.

“They shot the ball extremely well,” Dunbar added. “We played well offensively and shot 48 percent, and that’s well enough to win, but we could not make them miss. They were on fire.”

Indeed, the Panthers shot the lights out for the entire game.

And despite that, Somerset stayed with the Panthers, only trailing Knox Central 40-36 at halftime.

Kade Grundy scored 22 points for Somerset, while Dylan Burton scored a team-high 24 points, and Chase Walker would add 15 points, but the Panthers would seal this one by outscoring the Briar Jumpers 51-33 in the second half.

In that second half, the Panthers simply couldn’t miss, shooting 66.7 percent from the field after the intermission, hitting on 22-33 field goal attempts.

“Dylan Burton played really well for us tonight,” pointed out Dunbar.

“He has been having some good games for us,” added the Somerset head coach. “We are not going to let this get us down. We have to regroup and get ready for Wayne County tomorrow.”

The Briar Jumpers — now 13-11 on the season — will return to action on Tuesday night at The Briar Patch, hosting the Wayne County Cardinals at 7:30 p.m.
