Maroons win at Russell County in low-scoring affair

RUSSELL SPRINGS — The Pulaski County Maroons won their fourth game in a row on Tuesday night while improving to 13-7 on the season in the process.

But, it did not come easy.

Playing at Russell County on Tuesday evening, John Fraley’s club — in a very low-scoring affair — was locked into a barn-burner with the Lakers.

The Maroons only led Russell County 36-35 headed into the fourth quarter, but PC outscored the Lakers 20-10 in the final frame, to go on for the 56-45 win.

Jake Combs led Pulaski County in the win with 13 points, while Colton Fraley scored nine of his 12 points in the contest after the intermission, and Grant Oaks scored all 11 of his points in the second half as well.

With the win, PC ran its winning streak to four wins in a row, and now — at 13-7 on the year — has the third best won-loss record in the 12th Region behind Danville and Wayne County.

Fraley and the Maroons will continue their longest road streak of the season on Friday night, taking on 47th District rival Rockcastle County in a girl-boy doubleheader.

That twinbill will get underway with the girl’s contest at 6 p.m.
