By DOUG EADS
Hey everybody. Good Sunday afternoon.
First, I want to thank everyone for your overwhelming support and all the kind words that I have been given over the past two weeks since starting The Doug Out Sports Blog.
Readership continues to grow each day, and I want to thank each of you for your friendship and your encouragement since I began this venture. I have truly been humbled by the support I have been given, not only from the Somerset community, but quite honestly, from all across the state of Kentucky.
I would especially like to express my gratitude to Butch Bibb, who has been willing to put some of my stories on his blog — Big Blue Sports: All Things Kentucky. Thanks to Butch’s kindness, I have received way more coverage and recognition from my blog than I could have ever imagined.
I also want to thank all of my sponsors who took a leap of faith in me, and began advertising their respective businesses on The Doug Out Sports Blog. Thank each of you for the faith you have shown in me and this next chapter of my life.
With all of that being said, and today beginning the start of Christmas week, I realize that several of our local hoops teams will be playing in tournaments this week after Christmas.
Both of Somerset’s teams will be hosting the 7th annual Lake Cumberland Holiday Hoops Classic at The Briar Patch later this week beginning on Thursday, December 27th.
Pulaski County’s two squads will be playing in Florida later this week, while Southwestern’s boys will be taking part in the Magnolia Bank Holiday Classic at Larue County High School.
Meanwhile, the Southwestern Lady Warriors — the only local team left from our area that remains undefeated at 8-0 on the season — will travel way over to western Kentucky later this week to take part in the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic.
As for me, I will not be able to be at any games this week, as I will be in Georgetown working at my mom’s house in getting ready to put it on the market.
My brother Jamie and I lost our mother due to an illness back in August, so I will be out of town this week helping him take care of some things that we need to get done before her house goes up for sale after the first of the year.
This will be a tough week for both of us and our extended family, as we miss our sweet mother dearly, but we will get through it together.
So, I will not be at any games this next week, but that doesn’t mean your favorite team will not get coverage on The Doug Out.
Feel free to send me scores, stat sheets, box scores — whatever you want — and I will be glad to put a brief story on each game to keep your fans informed of how your team is doing in all of these upcoming tournaments.
You can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org, and I will be glad to put scores and a brief summary of your team in every game they play each day.
Until then, have a very Merry Christmas and God bless you each and every one.
As for Saturday night’s scores featuring all our local teams, here they are:
Pulaski County 67 — Spring Hill, Tennessee 51
Clay County 68 — Southwestern 54
