PIKEVILLE —  The Southwestern Warriors stand at 2-4 on the season, after going 1-1 over the weekend, taking part in The Pikeville Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Chris Baker’s club got its second win of the year on Friday night in game one of the tournament, holding back Covington Holmes by a final score of 59-43.

Cole Dysinger led the Warriors in the win with 19 points, while Brayden Sims added 12 points for the Warriors.

One night later — playing in the championship game of the tournament — Southwestern — despite a valiant effort — fell to Louisville Central by a final score of 60-53.

Once again it was Dysinger and Sims leading the way for the Warriors.

In the loss to the Yellow Jackets, Dysinger paced Southwestern with 16 points, while Sims added 14.

Southwestern will return to action tonight at home, hosting Garrard County beginning at 7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday night at The Wigwam, Baker and company will begin the first of four days taking part in the inaugural M & W Shootout, which will be hosted by both Southwestern and Pulaski County High Schools.

In night one of that event on Wednesday, the Warriors will square off against Madison Southern in a game slated to get underway at 8 p.m.
